Ikea has always relied on people visiting their stores in order to have profitable sales and usually have not relied on outside resources to showcase their products. However, recently, Ikea decided to dabble in the business of augmented reality in order to provide a means to display their products to potential customers within the comfort of their own homes. The technology allows people to see how potential furniture will look within their own homes with ease and accuracy.

The app allows a multitude of angles amongst the 2,000 products that are available for viewing. The use of the app allows…

Recently in 2017, AIRBNB expanded their brand from the home into the travel experience market. Their idea was to make the travel experience better for the consumer by making the consumer feel like a local at their destination. AIRBNB tries to exemplify the activities that are major to the locals in the destinations they provide. An example of a brand that I paid more for would have to be the PlayStation brand for the PS3. It had a higher cost than both its competitors when it came out. It was more expensive than both the Wii and Xbox 360. The brand won me over because the games that were on the system as well as the UI of the system. I think the UI was more user friendly in comparison to the Xbox 360 and Wii’s UI. It was more streamlined and and easier to navigate in comparison to its competitors.

Due to the world being a much more connected place, we are bombarded with messages and advertisements on a regular basis. This has allowed for a more streamlined viewing of our choices when it comes to making a purchasing decision. However, the pitfall arises when the business just gives too much choice to its consumer. By creating more choice for the consumer you are in fact making it harder for them to buy your product. Too many products just creates an unnecessary cluster of items, some that are not even needed. …

The Godin text shows marketing as a means to disrupt the way things are done. He uses the phrase “people like us do things like us” as the backbone to the disruption. In this sense he means that people with similar ideals will follow others with similar ideals. It is up to the marketer to find a clever way to show this ideal in such a way that it creates a change in the customer. This can be seen in the Blue Ribbon case study where a community saved a school’s budget vote by placing many Blue Ribbons on a…

In today’s world we are surrounded by clicks, likes, and tags. Our phones are with us at all times and we have access to our social media accounts whenever we want. However, just like in real life there are fake accounts that are made for fake people who do not exist. They are known as bots and are operated on social media networks, and used to automatically generate messages, advocate ideas, act as a follower of users, and as fake accounts to gain followers themselves. They were meant to game the system and serve the egos of whoever made them.

In today’s world we are subjected to make alliances with brands because we as humans like to identify ourselves with ideas or rationales that are like our own. Supreme is an example of this sort of thing. Supreme represents the highest caliber of exclusiveness and authenticity. Since its conception in 1994, Supreme has been known to be an authentic clothes retailer. Their brand mostly caters to those who skateboard and the hip hop culture itself.

The reason why Supreme has created a Tribe so well is the message that they send and the way they sell their products. They want…

Hi everyone,

My name is Khurshed Fazal and I am so excited to begin blogging. Blogging to me is a creative way to let out energy and ideas that you may not have known you had before. To blog about marketing makes me feel focused and makes my willingness to learn even greater. Marketing to me is a way to persuade a consumer that they need a certain product through direct or indirect means. I absolutely love the book that Seth Godin made and I see that there is a lot to learn from one of the masters of marketing.
